Research Assistant

Position Summary:
The lab of Dr. Deborah Kelly is seeking a Research Assistant to manage general laboratory operations. The responsibilities of a research assistant include knowledge of and experience with general cell and molecular laboratory techniques. The research assistant will be responsible for organizing project funds, including budget preparation, account reconciliation, and petty cash handling. The incumbent will work on completing and maintaining IRB protocol paperwork and submissions. The incumbent will also be responsible for having overall knowledge of all lab projects and report on areas of potential delay.

Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to generate and utilize computer databases essential for mouse colony maintenance.
2. Ability to work with mice, including handling, restraining, tissue harvesting, genotyping and monitoring animal welfare.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
2. Experience with one or more of the following laboratory techniques preferred: Genotyping, DNA cloning, Protein analysis using immunohistochemistry and western blotting, gene expression analysis using qPCR, and/or tissue culture of cell lines and primary cells.
3. Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field, and/or the equivalent level of training and experience.
