Director of Student Conduct


Brief Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Conduct is responsible for the oversight, vision, policy development, implementation and evaluation of the College's student conduct system. The Director is also responsible for the processing and adjudication of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity cases for students on and off campus. This position serves as the primary liaison with faculty, students, parents and college security regarding conduct matters and oversees campus programs, policies and protocols related to student behavior. S/he will investigate student misconduct off campus and recommends action when appropriate.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration of the Student Conduct Office.
  • Provide training and secondary supervision of all college hearing officers and all hearing and appeal board members.
  • Investigate, process, and adjudicate all student conduct and academic integrity violations.
  • Maintain the conduct database and statistical records to effectively trace student conduct and behavioral concerns.
  • Edit and publish the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Recruit, train and evaluate all Hearing Panel and Academic Integrity Panel Members and Appellate Committee Members.
  • Provide ongoing training for students, staff and other campus administrators.
  • Provide educational programming in the residence halls with a particular emphasis on first year students.
  • Meet regularly with staff in Student Affairs to discuss status of pending cases.
  • Responsible for monitoring the hearing and appeal process.
  • Determine what cases with be handled by the Residence Director for a disciplinary action for each student charged with violating the Code of Student Conduct.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean to manage serious cases involving removal from housing or campus on an interim basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean in a safe and responsible manner.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in appropriate discipline and a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience working with students in higher education or a closely related field required.
  • Three years of experience working with student discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Greek Affairs, Title IX investigations and Maxient Software database system beneficial.
  • Must possess sharp interpersonal and organizational skills and flexibility.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills and a successful track record in providing education and training programs.
  • Expertise with alcohol education and prevention training highly desirable.
