Diagnostic Imaging - MRI Technologist


The Diagnostic Imaging service provides clinical support for the Foster Hospital for Small Animals, the Hospital for Large Animals and support for the teaching and research missions of the hospital. Our patients receive a wide range of imaging services in Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, MRI, CT and General Radiology. The MRI service has a Siemens 1.5 Tesla magnet and performs an average 4-5 exams a day.

The Diagnostic Imaging/MRI position provides technical support for clinical cases and investigational research with emphasis in MRI and provides technical support in other areas of the Diagnostic Imaging service where needed. This position assists in student and resident teaching of MRI and provides quality MRI service to a variety of clinicians on clinical cases and research projects. This position receives cross-training in other areas of the Imaging service and participates in a rotating weekend coverage and on-call schedule.



Qualifications:


Basic Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent with prior experience as an MRI technician. Registered technologist in Magnetic Resonance Imaging RT (MR). Word, Excel, Power Point skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Registration in the ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) or eligible. Knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging in a veterinary setting or animal research models, particularly MRI. 2 years experience as an MRI technician. Graduate of accredited veterinary technician program (CVT or CVT eligible) or related animal field experience preferred but not required. Experience with Siemens MRI equipment.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

The schedule for this position may include evenings and may include providing University and calendar holiday coverage on a rotating basis. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to insure that adequate leadership support and patient care is provided without interruption or exception. This position is considered essential and is therefore required to report to work as scheduled during emergency closings.
