Professional Assistant l - Radio Station General Manager


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Announcement is hereby made for a 12-month, full-time, tenure track appointment beginning in the Spring 2018 semester in the department of Radio and Television on the Ammerman Campus in Selden.

Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

Job Description:

This position is for a Professional Assistant to serve as the General Manager for our newly established internet radio station. The radio station is an integral part of our academic program in radio and television production, and is staffed by student interns. The position requires a commitment of thirty-five hours per week in the radio station. The candidate will have a firm commitment to working with a diverse student population, and will thoughtfully contribute to the collegial and intellectual environment of the department as appropriate.

The College seeks faculty who value the opportunity to form mentoring relationships with our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in radio and to professional development. Required duties will include:

Supervision of student radio station interns

Reviewing student programming

Monitoring and reviewing music packages

Monitoring equipment, software, and technology

Assisting with assessment of academic goals for the station

Completion of compliance reports

Development of initiatives


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in mass communication, radio and television production, communication arts, or broadcasting and new media is required. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of broadcasting management experience with specialties in programming and promotions.


HIRING SALARY:

The exact salary will be determined by prior experience on the salary scale negotiated by the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College.
