Assistant/Associate Professor in-Residence, Computer Science & Engineering


The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor-in-Residence. The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the department's teaching program, but is encouraged to pursue his or her research interests and collaborate within the department.

We are pleased to continue these investments by inviting applications for an in-Residence faculty position in the Computer Science & Engineering department at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

In the area of teaching, the successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of innovative courses, and mentoring of students in research, outreach and professional development. The successful candidate will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their teaching, research, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Earned Ph.D. in computing sciences or related field by the time of appointment; Candidates at the Assistant level must have a proven record of potential in teaching; candidates at the Associate level must have a proven record of excellence in teaching computer science. Candidates at either level must have a deep commitment to promoting diversity through their academic and research programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Expertise in several areas of computer science and outstanding record of teaching and scholarship; commitment to effective teaching and use of innovative techniques; the ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences; the ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, annually renewable non-tenure track position. This position has the possibility of subsequent annual academic-year reappointment, contingent on positive reviews and program funding and may lead to a multi-year appointment. Employment is conditional upon the timely completion of an approved I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form). Candidates must be able to begin work on August 23, 2018 for Fall semester start. The successful candidate's primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus with the possibility of work at UConn's regional campuses across the state. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
