POSITION:
Assistant Professor of Secondary Education (Single Subject Credentials) - Two Tenure-track appointments to begin in Fall 2018. Duties include teaching methodology courses in the Single Subject Credential Program in the Department of Teacher Education and supervising student teaching/fieldwork. All faculty members have advising responsibilities, are required to engage in scholarship and provide service to the department/college/university. Assignment may include teaching and advising at off-site centers. Additional responsibilities include program development and implementation; development of contracts and grants; development of university/school partnerships; participating in Masters theses; and service to community, county and district agencies, and professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Doctorate in Education. ABD considered with completion by the time of appointment. 2. A minimum of five full years of successful teaching experiences in a 6-12 grade classroom (experience within the last five years preferred) 3. Strong evidence of teaching effectiveness (NOTE:
Applicant must include evaluations of prior teaching experience). 4. Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the single subject credential subjects (preferred is social science but may also be math, English, social, world languages, PE/health, arts, music) 5. Potential for or record of scholarly/creative activity appropriate to rank. PREFERRED Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of California credentialing regulations, and local, state, and national trends. 2. Experience teaching and supervising adults, preferably some of which was at the University level. 3. Demonstrated expertise in methods for teaching English Learners 4. Experience with research design and methodology. 5. Knowledge of uses of technology in education.
