Associate Director, Institutional Research

Summary:

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director is responsible for data submission to ranking publications, college guides and similar organizations. This individual will be responsible for reporting of institutional data of NYSED as well as assisting with data requirements of external regulatory and accreditation reports. This individual will collaborate with colleagues to respond to requests in a timely and effective manner, develop appropriate data analytical reports and will post necessary reports to the Department's Web Site.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to approximately 75 annual requests from ranking publications (e.g. U.S. News, & Princeton Review), college guides and other organizations to ensure submissions are completed accurately and submitted within required time frame. Proactively prepare comparative summaries of results in rankings and other publications. Conduct ongoing monitoring of websites and publications to understand how data submitted is presented. In support of providing data to these publications, this position will coordinate the collection and completion of the Common Data Set.
  • Responsible for the organization and process of data gathering and reporting of institutional data for NYSED in a timely and effective manner. Conduct peer analyses for University benchmarking using external data such as IPEDS. Collaborate with colleagues across the university to complete external regulatory and accreditation reports. (AACSB, Speech, Pharmacy and others) accurately and by required deadlines.
  • Complete special research projects and adhoc data requests/questions from both academic and administrative areas to assist in their planning and decision making in a timely fashion. Develops data reports based on the extraction, transforming, and analyzing large data sets from internal and external databases. Analyze and disseminate admission statistics for incoming students by various characteristics for the University Fact Book and other Internal and external needs.


Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, or R.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Accuracy and timeliness are essential. Ability to anticipate and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Analytical capabilities to review, analyze, and interpret data as well as recognize/resolve inconsistencies.
  • Experience with extracting, transforming, loading and analyzing large data sets, and web publishing.
  • Familiarity with reporting software such as Oracle Hyperion.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner.
  • Must be able to work independently, focusing on the established priorities of the office, as well as member of a team.
  • Service orientation, commitment to excellence and professional growth.
  • MA/MS required. Ph.D/Ed.D preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience required. 5-7 years experience preferred.
