Research Support Associate - J&J Lung Cancer Initiative Collaboration

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-J&J Lung Cancer Initiative Collaboration (multiple openings), to provide basic laboratory support for research on the discovery and development of therapeutics and diagnostics that may be useful in the treatment, prevention, interception, and/or diagnosis of diseases specifically focused on lung cancer. Responsibilities include performing data input and basic laboratory support functions; conducting basic lab experiments under close supervision; collecting and processing lab samples or research data; maintaining vendor relationships and equipment service contracts/records; scheduling equipment maintenance/repair; assisting with maintaining laboratory inventory; updating/maintaining laboratory databases; generating standardized reports; following safety standards and procedures; interfacing with MIT environmental health and safety personnel as needed; ensuring biohazard waste disposal occurs following policies and procedures; and performing other duties as needed. May carry out routine literature searches; maintain lab calendar, directories, and mailing lists; and use web software to input, update, and maintain web content.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma; experience in a research laboratory; willingness to express one's ideas and actively participate in group discussions; comfort conveying routine information to others and communicate established processes and procedures; strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; attention to detail; self-motivation; awareness of the critical aspects of laboratory and chemical safety and ability to follow procedures and maintain a safe work environment; willingness to work in an environment with hazards including proximity to mechanical parts, electrical current, or exposure to high heat or chemicals. Work may require moving objects of 10 to 20 lbs. and to move long distances to accomplish some tasks. Bachelor's degree in biology or engineering-related field strongly preferred.
