Simmons School of Social Work offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels (BSW, MSW, PhD). The MSW degree is offered through both our traditional campus-based program and via our innovative online platform, SocialWork@Simmons (SW@S). The Associate Program Director, SocialWork@Simmons works closely with and reports to the School of Social Work MSW Director to ensure academic excellence and to build and sustain SW@S as an engaged learning community of faculty, students and community partners. This position is primarily faculty-facing in its focus and oversees/collaborates with the Assistant Program Director, SW@S in addressing student-facing responsibilities.

The position is a full-time twelve-month practice faculty (non-tenure track) appointment. The appointment will be at a level commensurate with a candidate's experience (Associate Professor of Practice or Professor of Practice). The position includes a reduced teaching load of section instruction and course leading, as well as administrative responsibilities that support the management and operation of SW@S. The Associate Program Director of SW@S is based at the Simmons College Boston campus.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, in collaboration with HR, in the recruitment, selection and scheduling of prospective faculty as Section Instructors (SI) and Course Leads (CI) required to staff all sections of all courses offered through the SW@S online MSW platform for each of six (6) academic terms per calendar year. Orient and provide ongoing oversight and annual review of faculty performance
  • In conjunction with MSW Director, anticipates need for new curricular development in emerging areas of practice.
  • Oversees compliance with accreditation standards oversees implementation of SW@S student assessment plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Supports teaching excellence through mentorship and faculty development activities in collaboration with Provost's Faculty Fellow for Online Education.
  • Work closely with our online partner and campus-based departments for purposes of ongoing program monitoring, quality assurance and program development.
  • Coordinates with Assistant Program Director regarding student issues (academic misconduct, academic policies)
  • Meet regularly with Assistant Program Director to provide ongoing mentoring and supervision.
  • Convene regular meetings with SW@S student groups.
  • Provide outreach to students via social media and other platforms as needed to create community and provide support.
  • Carry a reduced teaching load within a calendar year.

    Qualifications
  • MSW required.
  • Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field required.
  • Prior professional social work practice experience required.
  • Teaching experience at the master's level required.
  • Hybrid or online-based learning platforms experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous administrative and supervisory experience, working collaboratively with a large team in a fast-paced environment, strongly preferred.
  • Experience and comfort with social media desired.
