Communications and Alumni Relations Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering ( AOE ) is seeking a creative, organized, and skilled applicant to fulfill the position of AOE Communications and Alumni Relations Coordinator. Under the direction of the department head, the AOE Communications and Alumni Relations Coordinator will manage department communications and alumni relations, and coordinate these efforts with those of the college of engineering and the university. Examples of communication products include newsletters, annual reports, website news articles, direct mailing to donors, and frequent posting on department social media channels. Alumni relations require coordination of the AOE Alumni Mentoring Program, planning of the AOE Advisory Board meetings, processing of nominations and biographies for the Academy of AOE Excellence, and alumni event planning at major conferences and exhibitions. This position will also assist the department head with development activities that intersect with communication and alumni relation responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and/or related training and significant related experience.
- Broad background in communications and evidence of superior writing and editing skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and marketing skills as well as an understanding of effective graphic design and proficiency with standard office software.
- Ability to accurately complete work independently in a dynamic environment under pressure with multiple and competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design.
- Working experience in web design and competent in tools such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience in use of social media channels in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of university branding and style compliance.
- Experience with event planning.
