Job Summary
SKIDMORE COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF THEATER is recruiting applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, open rank professor to teach key undergraduate courses in theater history, theory and related disciplines. We encourage applicants who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, research, creative work and service. A successful candidate will teach five courses per year, and will participate in college and department affairs. The position will begin in the Fall 2018 semester. The salary will be commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and service to both the academic and the professional theater. Significant teaching experience at the college/university level is essential. We are particularly interested in a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following: Latinx theater, Asian theater studies, or LGBTQ theater studies. A strong background in performance studies is also essential. Candidates should describe their personal and professional contributions to a diverse set of undergraduates, and should feel free to make mention of any specific knowledge, skills, and abilities related to building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Academic administrative experience, and the ability to teach in other theater sub-disciplines, are also desirable qualities of a strong candidate.

The Skidmore Department of Theater offers an intensive Bachelor of Science degree that balances serious pre-professional training with a strong commitment to the liberal arts. Skidmore College is committed to interdisciplinary teaching. It is expected that all full-time faculty will teach an interdisciplinary seminar in the College's First Year Experience program every four to five years. Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree, PHD preferred in theater history or related discipline and/or extensive comparable professional experience. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at the college or university leve. Experience teaching a range of history, dramatic literature, and theory courses
A successful candidate will display potential for excellence in teaching and professional development, a commitment to undergraduate education, and the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.
