President

The President is responsible for the attainment of all institutional goals and objectives in accordance with the university's mission and strategic vision. The President provides academic direction and operational oversight and is accountable for student outcomes and financial performance. The President maintains effective relationships with relevant accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies in order to fulfill expectations for quality assurance and compliance. The President is responsible for building strong and collaborative relationships among institutions in the health sciences vertical and support services within the Laureate network. The President is highly visible to all levels of the community and routinely interacts with constituent groups, including the board of directors, students, alumni, faculty, staff, administration, government officials, regulators, community, educational institutions, clinical partners, and media.

Vision and Strategic Direction
Provide strategic direction for the institution to expand and adopt innovative delivery formats, and introduce and redesign program offerings for the growing health care and health administration areas.
Adapt and promote strategic priorities and corresponding initiatives for the institution in concert with overarching Laureate priorities and in accordance with the Board of Directors approved strategic plan.
Lead the development and implementation of multi-year strategic, financial, infrastructure and assessment plans for operational units.

Academic Excellence, Quality Assurance and Accreditation
Create and sustain a culture of academic excellence, student success, cross-functional collaboration, and regulatory compliance.
Design and implement USAHS academic policy.
Oversee teaching, learning and scholarship, including understanding the needs of students, fostering a collegiate environment that encourages scholarship, teaching, and learning excellence, promoting academic research and applied projects.
Foster an understanding of the role of technology, lead its adoption throughout the curriculum, and ensure implementation within the learning environment and student experience.
Develop and evaluate programming to support student success and excellence in teaching and pedagogy; provide oversight for curriculum development and program evaluation.
Set direction for new and existing academic programs to align with strategic plan and operational imperatives; provide strategic input and management of academic related tasks as they emerge.
Manage programmatic and institutional accreditation with regional and national accrediting bodies.

Financial and Performance Management:
Obtain, cultivate, and effectively mobilize resources to meet strategic plan and objectives.
Plan and administer the institution's annual budget and manage profitability to ensure fiscal stability in a for-profit environment. Oversee and deliver desired financial results, ensuring the institution grows revenues and operating surplus according to approved budgets and long range plans.
Work collaboratively with institutional leadership to meet student growth goals by increasing enrollment and improving retention.
Design innovative infrastructure plan to meets the academic and university community needs.
Hire and develop a high-performance team of administrators, faculty and staff that work collaboratively to achieve institutional objectives. Motivate and drive engagement across all employee and faculty populations.

External Requirements
External Relations
Advance the reputation and visibility of the institution with key constituencies.
Strengthen industry partnerships to provide practical and varied clinical experiences and employment opportunities.
Develop and nurture relationships with local, state, and national governmental and regulatory agencies effectively leveraging the public relations team.

Governance and Compliance
Work collaboratively with the USAHS chief executive officer and institutional board to advance major decisions and formulate strategic and budget plans to advance the university's mission and goals.
Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are managed that create an ethical and safe work.
Assure that University Curriculum and Academic Policy Committee (UCAP) and student committees are adequately supported.
Commit to the academic mission, policies and organizational culture of Laureate Education.

Perform other related duties from time to time as required by the Chief Executive Officer of the university.

EDUCATION and/or PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
An advanced degree required including Juris Doctorate, Ed.D., PhD or equivalent, or MD from an accredited college or university. Extensive experience preferably in a health sciences related field and/or environment. Exceptions to these degrees may be considered based on specific higher education and health care industry experience.
15 years of general management experience in a growing enterprise, highly preferred. Must have demonstrated and significant prior P&L responsibility.
A minimum of 8 years of increasingly responsible experience in higher education highly preferred, with a demonstrated record of effective leadership in higher education administration, specifically in a healthcare or healthcare administration environment.

Leadership and Management
Directly lead organizations within a high growth environment including challenging revenue targets, diverse personnel, creative marketing approaches, and new infrastructure investments.
Manage in a highly complex environment which requires a broad knowledge of health sciences industry trends, highly regulated environments, business planning, fiscal management, and multi-campus academic integration.
Work within a collaborative, highly matrix environment with multiple direct and indirect reporting structures throughout the organization.
Work closely with colleagues throughout the Laureate health sciences vertical to promote initiatives for the institution which are in alignment with the overarching Laureate priorities for the audience area.
Hire and develop high-performing administrators and faculty to lead and execute effectively within a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate direct accountability organizational profitability, budgets and long range plans.
