Director of Financial Aid

Director of Financial Aid

Main Campus - Boston, MA
R04028

Simmons College invites inquiries, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Director of Financial Aid.

Located in the heart of Boston, Simmons College encompasses the many benefits of a small university in the nation's best "college town." Simmons has a cherished history of visionary thinking and social responsibility, and a strong mission that has remained constant for over a century: to provide transformative learning that links passion with lifelong purpose. Simmons offers an undergraduate education in the arts, sciences and several professional fields to women; graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels are open to all. Given the richness and complexity of its offerings, Simmons is currently pursuing a new status as Simmons University.

While the phrase transformative moment might be overused in higher education, it is appropriate to this period in Simmons's history. With stable finances, appropriate debt ratios, robust cash reserves, and expanded enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Simmons recently undertook a dramatic reimagining of its academic structure that includes the creation of four new Colleges.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid will join an enrollment division that is forward-thinking, innovative and dynamic. Since 2013, enrollment of undergraduate first-year students has increased by approximately 20 percent, making Simmons the fastest growing institution dedicated to women's education. At the same time, Simmons enrolls a robust graduate and online student population, which makes this a position of immense complexity and importance. The new Director of Financial Aid will be a key partner in building upon Simmons's remarkable momentum, helping achieve the strategic enrollment goals of the College. The Office of Financial Aid ensures that undergraduate, graduate and online students have financial access to Simmons College in support of admission decisions, academic achievement, retention and timely completion to a degree.

This is a multifaceted leadership position that will require the Director to wear many hats. The Director of Financial aid provides leadership for a dedicated team, oversees budgets, and formulates and implements policies and procedures that comply with regulations, helping to ensure Simmons's recruitment, retention and net tuition revenue goals are met. The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, a demonstrated collaborator and a visionary leader with strategic and analytical skills. The new Director of Financial Aid will possess considerable knowledge and understanding of contemporary best practices in financial aid management; a demonstrated record of customer service; and exceptional internal and external communication strategies. The ability to create key partnerships with academics, admission, student accounts and technology support departments to provide quality, seamless customer service and effective coordination is also essential.

These materials should be sent electronically via e-mail to Simmons College's consultants Amy Crutchfield, Patricia Coleman and Ann Wright at SimmonsFA@wittkieffer.com. The consultants can be reached by telephone through the assistant to the search, Laura Novak, at 630-575-6943.
