Summary of Position Ferris State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor to join our growing Communication programs. The successful candidate will be a communication generalist with an advanced degree focused on Mass and Digital Media. Opportunities exist to develop course(s) in the candidate's area of specialty. Ferris State University is primarily a teaching institution, and the Humanities Department houses the Communication programs. Ferris State University offers degrees in Sports Communication, Applied Speech Communication, and Applied Speech Communication with a concentration in Public Advocacy. There are opportunities to revise existing curricula and to collaborate with undergraduate students on research projects. There are also opportunities to collaborate with existing programs in other departments, including Journalism and Television & Digital Media Production.

Required Qualifications
Required Education Ph.D. in a Communication field, with a focus in Mass and Digital Media
OR
Master's degree in Communication or a related field, with ABD status in a doctorate program with a focus in Mass and Digital Media. It is expected that a Ph.D. will be earned within 2 years (August 1, 2020).
Required Work Experience Demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduates.
Demonstrated experience in teaching excellence, effective communication, and interpersonal skills in working with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered Experience teaching courses in Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and/or Small Group Decision Making.
Experience teaching courses in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, fully online, or a combination of these.
