Coordinator of Instruction Technology Support


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Announcement is hereby made for the position of Coordinator of Instructional Technology Support on the Eastern Campus in Riverhead. The Eastern Campus Coordinator of Instruction Technology Support is a 12-month, full-time, tenure track faculty coordinator appointment beginning immediately.

Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

Job Duties:

The Eastern Campus Coordinator of Instruction Technology Support reports to the Eastern Campus Head Librarian. Primary responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Educational Technology Unit, computer labs and instructional facilities, including the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center.
  2. Coordinating the schedules and tasks for ETU professional assistants, College aides and work study students.
  3. Providing direction for the ETU staff through supervision and planning.
  4. Serving as a liaison between the campus and the Office of Computer Information Systems, and participating on campus and college-wide technology committees when needed.
  5. Managing all educational networks, domains, servers and workstations including testing and troubleshooting of hardware and software.
  6. Coordinating hardware repair for the campus with Desktop Services.
  7. Overseeing and managing Apple platform products on the campus.
  8. Overseeing campus hardware and software purchases and inventory.
  9. Initiating budget requests for Educational Technology Unit and recommending hardware, software and supply purchases to support teaching and learning on the campus.
  10. Working closely with the campus Head Librarian to provide a vision for educational computing on the campus through computer equipment replacement and upgrade plans, short-term and long-range computer and network planning, and campus technology initiatives.
  11. Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's degree in educational technology, computer science or a related field is required. Extensive experience in support of educational technology; understanding of networking standards and protocols, and experience working with Active Directory is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong computer background, including familiarity with PC and technical expertise with Apple platforms and associated products, Unix and Linux operating systems, knowledge of multimedia instructional software and computer-assisted instruction. Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience supporting technology, preferably in an education environment. Supervisory and project management experience is preferred.


HIRING SALARY:

The exact salary will be dtermined by prior experience and placement on the salary scale negotiated by the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College.
