Duties and Responsibilities
The duties associated with this full-time, twelve month position, include:

Management of the academic programs in place at the JFRC and the interpretation and application of university academic policies for the center and its faculty and students;

Selection of faculty and academic support staff as approved by the JFRC Director, and the subsequent orientation, supervision, and daily support of those individuals, including the review of performance and course evaluations with a view towards maintaining quality of instruction and the development of those offering it;

Supervision of academic programs at the JFRC in consultation with the JFRC Director and in coordination with the Office of the Provost, schools and departments of Loyola University Chicago, as well as participation in the design and development of new programs in collaboration with those units and other institutions as designated by the JFRC Director and the university;

Supervision of academic support staff such that the processes for course and classroom management function smoothly and in accord with university policy and goals for retention and academic services and their improvement;

Supervision and planning of speakers series, academic conferences, convocations, and other events that enhance student learning and the academic standing of the JFRC in the University, in Rome, and in the world of higher education, including collaboration on study abroad academic trip development;

Participation in the creation and management of the budget for academic programs at the JFRC and in the development of strategic academic directions for the JFRC in collaboration with the JFRC Director;

For those with faculty status, teach a course each semester.

Qualifications
5+ years relevant administrative experience in higher education;
Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in discipline related to curricular needs of JFRC ;
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research interests;
Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, in English and Italian;
Experience working with diverse populations and willingness to work on a schedule that will include nights and weekends;
Immigration status permitting work in the EU (citizenship) or the ability to obtain a work visa in Italy.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the John Felice Rome Center ( JFRC ) of Loyola University Chicago leads the academic programming at the JFRC . This position reports to the Director of the JFRC , Loyola University Chicago. The Associate Dean oversees academic programming at the Center, including semester and summer study abroad programs, visiting programs, graduate and professional programs, the Rome Start Program, and new academic programming initiatives. Working closely with the JFRC Director, the Associate Dean assists the Center in achieving its academic goals in support of the overall strategic directions and mission of Loyola University Chicago.
