Clinical Assistant Professor, Communication Sciences and Disorders

Elmhurst College invites interested speech-language pathologists to apply for a half-time, non-tenure track clinical teaching position in Communication Sciences and Disorders ( CSD ). The CSD department consists of a cohesive academic and clinical faculty who collaborate on graduate (MS) and undergraduate degree programs with excellent outcomes. The graduate program has recently received full accreditation. Both academic programs involve student experiences in an on-campus Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, which is well established in the community. Teaching opportunities also involve collaboration with nursing and occupational therapy students and faculty at the 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art Elmhurst College Simulation Center located nearby, at the newly constructed Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Clinical faculty are afforded opportunities for professional development, research collaboration, and advancement.

Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities are supervision of graduate and undergraduate student clinicians working with clients in the on-campus clinic and classroom teaching. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with development and expansion of adult clinic caseload. This is a 12-month position with fall, spring and summer semester teaching responsibilities with a start date of August 2018.

Minimum Qualifications
• An earned masters (or doctoral) degree in CSD , speech-language pathology or a closely related field.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Licensed speech-language pathologist in Illinois (or eligibility for Illinois license).
• Three or more years of clinical experience working with adult clients in a medical/rehabilitation setting.
• Direct experience with Medicare regulations, billing and documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with CSD faculty, staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with pediatric clients with a variety of disorders.
• Experience with or interest in voice assessment and management of voice disorders.
• Experience with supervision of student clinicians or clinical fellows.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
