Information Security Analyst

Works with college's Information Security Officer to develop standards, controls, policies, and procedures to establish information security within the organization. Trains faculty, staff, and students in their use, developing security awareness by providing orientation, educational programs, and on-going communication.

Monitors college's systems, networks, and services for security breaches. Analyzes and evaluates anomalous network and systems activity. Provides analysis and reporting on system and network monitoring logs.

Conducts penetration testing and systems auditing. Works with systems administration staff on securing potential vulnerabilities in systems and services. Recommends security enhancements.

Investigates security breaches and violations when they occur. Prepares technically detailed reports documenting information security incidents and extent of damage caused. Issues regulatory required notifications to state agencies and potential victims of identity theft. Coordinates with Law Enforcement.

Evaluates vendors and contracts for compliance with internal controls and state regulation, including MASS 201 CMR 17.00.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years experience required or equivalent relevant work experience
• Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of information security concepts
• Demonstrable initiative and a personal interest in information security
• Good people skills and a strong ability to communicate effectively
• Use of network security analysis tools, such as TCPDUMP or Wireshark
• Knowledge of Linux/UNIS and Windows OS security
• Excellent problem-solving skills
