Research Associate-Fixed Term


Position Summary
Dr. Andrew Finley of the Departments of Forestry and Geography at Michigan State University ( http://blue.for.msu.edu ) seeks three highly motivated research associates (postdoctoral researchers) to join his lab group. The successful candidates will be expected to manage and analyze large spatio-temporal datasets, develop/implement novel Bayesian statistical models, carry out analyses, and write manuscripts and proposals. Motivating data will come from NSF and USFS/NASA funded projects that aim to assimilate large data sets collected from a variety of remotely sensed platforms and monitoring networks. The NSF funded project will focus on development of modeling frameworks for National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) data ( www.neoninc.org ) and similar monitoring networks.

These are full-time, 12-month fixed-term positions, with reappointment conditional on satisfactory performance and available funding.

Minimum Requirements
Successful candidates will have earned a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field by the start date.

Desired Qualifications
Criteria for selection include demonstrated research ability in Bayesian statistical methodology development, spatio-temporal statistics, and statistical computing.
