Event Assistant

Position Summary:
The Event Assistant (EA) is supervised by the Event Coordinator and the Manager of the Executive Briefing Center ( EBC ). The Event Assistant position will assist the Event Coordinator with the planning and execution of events held at the Executive Briefing Center in Arlington, VA, and work as part of a team to support events that contribute to the overall experience of clientele. The Event Assistant work will include day/evening/weekend shifts with occasional staff meetings and trainings. Hours may increase or decrease based on seasonal needs.
Due to the nature of this position, the Event Assistant will be required to bend, stand for at least 6 hours, push, pull, lift, carry and move items weighing up to 50lbs or more. The work schedule will vary and will include evening and weekend work depending on the needs of the events at the center.

Required Qualifications:
• Strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Must be a team player.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to quickly and smoothly handle unanticipated changes and needs.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to safely move and handle items weighing up to 50lbs.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations as well as demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous related experience in a hotel and/or conference center.
• Experience with audio/visual equipment such as laptops, projectors and microphones.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and/or graphic design software.
• Working knowledge of supporting events.
