Brief Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides clinical, reception, and office assistance to medical, nursing, and counseling staff and office coordinators.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Protect patient rights by maintaining the confidentiality of protected health information
- Provide reception services, including welcoming students and visitors in person or on the phone, answering or referring inquiries and making appointments
- Provide telephone management with a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette
- Manage voicemail messages in accordance with office procedure
- Manage online appointment schedule
- Manage confidential patient records, including receiving faxes, collating medical reports, retrieving and filing records
- Oversee waiting area and make sure all persons are checked in
- Facilitate patient flow by making nursing staff aware of patient arrival
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness of waiting room
- Provide clinical care (including taking vital signs, obtaining medical history, facilitating laboratory testing) to students in collaboration with nursing and medical staff when needed
- Provide first response to emergencies by accessing nursing, medical, or security staff
- Collaborate with and support the Office Coordinators and clerical staff
- Perform or delegate routine office tasks as needed, especially in the absence of the Office Coordinator
- Perform other job-related duties as required
Qualifications:
High School Diploma; Certified Medical Assistant; graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program; one year clinical experience in primary or urgent care; BLS certification.
