Coordinator, Marist International Programs (main campus in Poughkeepsie, NY)


Brief Summary:

Coordinate the BA, MA and Freshman Florence Experience (FFE) programs with Marist Italy. This includes providing support during the application process, interviewing applicants, coordinating pre-departure support, forms, and visa process, organizing and running the pre-departure orientation, and conducting other responsibilities as needed prior to departure. The position will also provide guidance to students while they are in Florence, from the Poughkeepsie campus. This may include fielding parent phone calls, and liaising with other departments on campus and from the Florence campus as needed. The position will work with the FFE students in their sophomore through senior years on the Poughkeepsie campus, starting with re-entry orientation in Poughkeepsie and then continuing with FFE alumni events to ensure a successful transition back to Poughkeepsie. Candidates must be flexible to work outside the typical 8:30AM-5:00PM hours as needed during peak times (leading up to and during orientation, along with beginning of the semester) and to attend student activities, which are typically held during evenings/weekends.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Departure Support: Provide guidance during the application process to students, interview applicants and submit feedback to the Admissions Office. Support FFE pre-departure by coordinating activities, forms, and visa process; organizing and running the pre-departure orientation; and conducting other responsibilities as needed prior to departure. Communicate with students and their parents to share relevant information, and mediate and alleviate their concerns.
  • Semester Support: Conduct ongoing semester support by communicating with students and their parents to share relevant information, and mediate and alleviate their concerns. Serve as a liaison with various Marist departments (e.g., Student Financial Services, Registrar, Academic Technology) in Poughkeepsie to provide academic support to FFE students.
  • Reentry Support: Assist the re-entry orientation in Poughkeepsie to ensure a successful transition back to Poughkeepsie. Maintain and provide website support.
  • Alumni Engagement: Support community of FFE alumni, and promote a sense of community and engagement. Coordinate and assist in running the FFE alumni events and activities throughout the students' sophomore through senior years. Organize the mentor program, including selection and interview of students, and pairing of mentors to recent FFE students.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's a plus. At least two years' experience in international programs/education abroad. Attention to detail and strong inter-personal, inter-cultural, editorial, and presentation skills. Undergraduate study abroad (or equivalent) experience in Italy required; Italian language skills strongly preferred. Dedication to strong customer service. Knowledge of developing budgets. Advanced computer skills including graphics. InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Internet, and electronic mail. Knowledge of technologies used in education abroad (e.g., Horizons, Studio Abroad) a plus. Strong social media skills across a variety of current platforms. Ability to work well and communicate effectively with a wide range of college administrators, faculty, students, and parents. Flexibility, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both in a team and individually in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to excellence. Candidates must be flexible to work outside the typical 8:30AM-5:00PM hours as needed during peak times (leading up to and during orientation, along with beginning of the semester) and to attend student activities, which are typically held during evenings/weekends. Valid passport required, as candidate must be able to travel internationally (typically 2 weeks in Florence, Italy).
