Residence Director for Operations

Albion College, a selective, private, residential liberal arts college, invites applications for a Residence Director for Operations position. The Residence Director for Operations (RD-O) is responsible for enhancing a comprehensive student development program within a residential campus consistent with the philosophies and goals of Albion College, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Office of Residential Life.  This position manages all aspects of room assignment process including updating the website, coordination of lottery numbers, data entry for assignments, room changes, and database maintenance. In addition, this staff member assumes joint responsibility with the entire Residential Life Department for the administration and quality of the entire residential life program.  The RD-O has specific responsibility for daily operational needs of the Office of Residential Life.  The RD-O may also serve as an Administrative Hearing Officer.  This position is “live-on” (i.e., apartment and board provided without direct hall supervision) and includes the Residential Life on-call duty rotation responsibilities.  The RD-O must appreciate and support the liberal arts philosophy and education including demonstrating cultural competence and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in college student personnel or related field preferred
  • Previous supervision and project management experience preferred
  • Must have a valid, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan driver’s license and clearing initial and periodic driving record checks
  • Supervision, training, and team building skills
  • Management and organizational skills, including the ability to deliver information and services in a timely fashion.
  • Budget management skills
  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Crisis management and advising skills
