The Position:
Applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor, Business (Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management) at San Diego Miramar College for an assignment beginning Fall 2018. Located in the Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, this assignment may include day, evening, and/or Saturday classes.

Major Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Dean, School of Business, Technical Careers and Workforce Initiatives. Duties of the assignment include: teaching lower division, community college business courses (e.g. Introduction to Business, Managing the Small Business, Business Mathematics, Principles of Marketing); assisting in the development of curricula for business courses; working collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational and industry partners on curriculum and educational program development; assisting with departmental administrative requirements such as class scheduling and educational program review; and participating in professional development to maintain currency in the discipline.

Qualifications:
Masters in business, business management, businessadministration, accountancy, finance, marketing orbusiness educationORBachelors in any of the aboveANDMasters in economics, personnel management, publicadministration, or JD or LL.B. degreeORBachelors in economics with a business emphasisANDMasters in personnel management, publicadministration, or JD or LL.B. degreeOR the equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have: 1. Knowledge and experience in teaching lower division (freshman/sophomore level) college business courses. 2. Professional work experience as an entrepreneur (e.g. starting or managing a small business). 3. Excellence in written and oral communication, particularly in classroom teaching. 4. Evidence of successful collaboration with industry, community, and/or professional organizations. 5. Effective teamwork skills.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,697.94 $7,677.65) per month based on the current AFT COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
