Engineering Management & Systems Engineering - Assistant Professor

Old Dominion University ( ODU ) invites applications for tenure eligible faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor in its Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering ( EMSE ) capable of contributing to our modeling and simulation supported systems engineering design and analysis thrust. Employment is to commence no later than July 25, 2018.
The EMSE department offers a variety of masters and doctoral degrees, as well an undergraduate minor, and certificates. It has been recognized numerous times by the American Society for Engineering Management ( ASEM ) for the quality of its graduate programs. EMSE supports extensive research initiatives in areas related to engineering management and systems engineering.
Faculty in the department teach graduate and undergraduate level courses, and advise and mentor masters and doctoral students. Faculty are expected to develop substantial research programs supported by external funding that generate publications and contributing to the scholarly recognition of the faculty, the department, and the college. Faculty collaborate in interdisciplinary groups, and with individuals in industry and government. Faculty members are required to be active, collegial, contributory members to the EMSE department's goal to provide continuous excellence in teaching, research, and service.
The department is building a core capability in Modeling and Simulation supported Systems Engineering (and Engineering Management) practices. The prospective faculty is expected to contribute to this focus area by deploying modeling and simulation skills to systems design and systems analysis. Contexts of application for this research may include, among others, Defense, Defense Industries, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Service Organizations.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
The applicant must have;
- Taught systems engineering, engineering management, or related courses in an academic setting.
- Knowledge and expertise of Modeling and Simulation tools and techniques as they apply to Systems Engineering Design and Systems Engineering Analysis.
- The capability to secure, and work, on funded research.
- A [public] record of publications in journal(s) and conference proceeding(s).

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Applicants must have:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal doctoral degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- At least one degree in an engineering discipline.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
- A record of funding that they have obtained to support research.
- A commitment to service, and contributions to relevant academic and professional groups.
- A clearly articulated research agenda, with evidence of contributions having been made to the focus area.
