Instructor, Art Education

Job Description:

The School of Art at Texas Christian University announces an Instructor appointment in Art Education beginning fall 2018. Instructor appointments are renewable, with continuation predicated upon successful performance in the areas of teaching, professional service, advising and related activities, and continuing professional development. Candidates should be prepared to teach a 3/3 Art Education course load.

The TCU School of Art is NASAD-accredited and offers a BFA in Art Education, a BA in Art History, and a BA and BFA in Studio Art (Ceramics, New Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture). The School of Art includes The Art Galleries at TCU, two dynamic spaces that feature work of local and international artists. There are approximately 20 Art Education majors. Students complete coursework in Education, Studio Art and Art History. They complete five classes in one Studio area. Six Art Education classes are offered each year, primarily filled with non-majors who want to learn how to create and use art in their chosen profession (Nursing, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Child Development, Education), or want to become more creative and competent with art media.

Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Art Education required, ABD considered. One to three years of PreK-12 teaching experience required. In addition, college teaching experience is desirable. Ideal candidates will possess depth of experience in Art Education. They will fluidly articulate Art Education goals and practice to a broad audience. They will have a unique area of expertise and be aware of art standards and emerging trends in K-university Art Education. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, building and maintaining relationships with local organizations. Other duties include supervising student teachers, advising and recruiting majors, carrying out university service and scholarly research.

RANK AND SALARY: Instructor
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
