Assistant Professor-Professor of Anatomy (2017-F122)

Job Description:

The TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine invites qualified medical educators to participate in the development and delivery of the medical school anatomy curriculum. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative community creating a new medical school in Fort Worth, Texas. At the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine, medical students will learn the basic and clinical sciences in an integrated, learner-centered curriculum that makes extensive use of case-based and active learning.

Currently the School of Medicine is recruiting full-time anatomy educators with knowledge and expertise in teaching in an integrated medical school curriculum. Experience with both cadaveric as well as technology-based approaches to the teaching of anatomy is critical.

Faculty will develop and facilitate active learning in the basic content of anatomy. Faculty may serve as course or module directors (if qualified to do so) and will collaborate with other curriculum leaders regarding this content across the four-year medical school curriculum. Faculty will serve as facilitators of small-group learning, including case-based learning, problem-based learning, simulation, and team learning. Successful candidates will have had significant experience teaching anatomy in an undergraduate medical school or other health professional school.

Faculty positions includes the expectation of productive scholarly activities related to medical education scholarship.

About the School:
The TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine is Fort Worth's first M.D. school, set to open with a class of 60 students in July 2019, pending accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. TCU and UNTHSC joined together in July 2015 to form this new allopathic medical school. PhD in anatomy or related biomedical science education or related field
Qualify for academic appointment (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) in a School of Medicine academic department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Evidence of teaching excellence in an undergraduate medical education or health professional education setting
Experience with both a cadaveric as well as a technology-based approach to delivering anatomy content
Knowledge and demonstrated experience in: education program development, education program assessment, administration of student programs, and medical school teaching
Experience with case-based and active learning methods in both small and large group settings
Demonstrated flexibility in a new medical startup or other endeavor requiring adaptability
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
