Operational Data Analyst

Title Position Reports To: Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is charged with the design, creation and monitoring of operational performance dashboards intended to measure progress relative to strategic and operational goals. Utilizing Tableau software, the individual will work in a number of functional areas including finance, human resources, marketing and public relations to enhance the University's ability to manage and analyze information. Information provided by this person will support the community with strategic planning, monitoring operations and executing various initiatives. The individual is expected to work closely with all team members in each of the functional areas to successfully build dashboards to enhance decision making; monitor progress towards achieving strategic and operational goals; and improving maintenance and integrity of data.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Create, monitor, track, and report key performance metrics on a regular basis.
Manage the use and delivery of operational and financial information, market research, and governmental data to achieve strategic and operational goals.
Assist with various data-driven projects as directed by the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration.
Execute continuous ROI analyses on significant third party or vendor relationships.
Advise colleagues on latest research and market trends for data and analysis to support decisions with respect to operations and strategies.
Generate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or year-end reports, as well as numerous ad-hoc reports in consultation with the various functional areas as needed.
Provide support for functional resources, initiatives and events.
Provide support in data imports, exports, and analysis.
Assist in maintenance of data integrity across relevant University systems.
Maintain an extensive understanding of the overall strategies, operations, data and systems.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in statistics, business, computer science, mathematics, data analytics or other related field.
Experience working with large data sources, extracting and manipulating data from multiple data fields.
Ability to design, run, and refine complex data queries.
Experience in data analysis, report writing, and business process recommendations.
Ability to advise and provide strategic recommendations to a variety of audiences including executive leadership.
Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail with the ability to navigate a fast paced environment.
Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
Requires excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Tableau strongly preferred.
Requires proficiency in Excel.
Experience working with SQL strongly preferred.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. 1-3 years of experience in statistical analysis, planning, information analysis, program evaluation, or research desired. Experience in higher education preferred.
