American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. • Provide individualized and specialized research-based interventions for students with literacy-based learning disabilities and/or other documented academic challenges as assigned in area schools or under private arrangement.
• Plan tutoring sessions and provide one-to-one or small group literacy and/or math tutoring before, during and after school.
• Review student work samples, diagnostic information, and the IEP, if applicable.
• Maintain active communication with the Administrator of Tutorial Services and school personnel to ensure inclusion of the student's curriculum within the tutorial sessions.
• Share interventions with school personnel so that they may be included throughout the student's academic day.
• Submit written reports regarding students' progress to parents and school districts four times a year.

• Required Field of Expertise: Education or related field
• Required Licensure(s): Valid driver's license

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge about learning disabilities and their impact on students' success in the classroom environment
• Knowledge about learning strategies and ability to implement them according to individualized student learning needs
• Training in well-researched, proven techniques, such as the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program, the Story Grammar Marker , and Visualizing and Verbalizing is preferred.

This is a part time, non-exempt, non-benefit eligible position. Hours will vary per week and are flexible to the needs of the department. Candidates must have flexibility and availability to work between the hours of 7:25 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
