Candidate should have experience necessary to qualify as a tenured full professor.

Job Summary The University of Kentucky is seeking a Chair of Pharmacology. This position is charged with the growth and development of research and teaching excellence of the Department and will oversee research, education and other departmental activities. This Chair will work closely with the Department s Faculty, the Dean and senior leadership within the College, University and UK Healthcare to outline a strategic plan for the Department. The Chair must also foster and support research in basic, translational, and clinical research in alignment with the vision and mission of the University, oversee the continuing education of the Department s faculty and overall educational mission. The Chair serves as an important spokesperson for UK s Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences research and educational activities at the local, regional and national level.

Has a philosophy of collaboration and teamwork in interactions within and across departments; has shown the ability to successfully support multidisciplinary efforts and centers in a complex environment.

Preferred Education/Experience The successful candidate will have a history of demonstrated leadership success in a basic or translational sciences department or division, an interdisciplinary institute/center, or an academic entity of comparable size and scope.
Successful track record of development of faculty and students into successful, independent careers.
A national reputation as an academic leader, with significant current or recent sponsored research funding as a principal investigator.
