Assistant Director of Housekeeping

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities, the Assistant Director of Housekeeping directs the administrative, operational, and financial affairs for the management of all Housekeeping performed by the Planning and Operations department within Student Affairs. Planning and Operations manages approximately 2,400,000 square feet within Student Affairs. Administrative functions include but are not limited to hiring, personnel reviews and actions, scheduling, etc. Operational functions include supervision of an in-house workforce of over 85 personnel. Develops and enforces written business plans. Develops and provides management reports and customer reports, including details of services provided, standardized benchmarks, planned services, and financials. Maintains proficiency in green cleaning, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Assists the Associate Director of Facilities with organizing housekeeping regions to align with needs of the organization. Keeps abreast of the latest in housekeeping related technologies and processes.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in business, engineering, student affairs or related field
- Considerable years of management and leadership experience
- Experience managing a diverse workforce
- Experience developing and executing operations processes
- Must be detailed oriented, computer proficient, with demonstrated supervisory skills
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus.
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Excellent organizational and delegation skills
- Experience with commercial/industrial cleaning methods and safety.
- Working knowledge of safe and efficient operation of electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
- Ability and willingness to work an irregular schedule that may include evenings, mornings, weekends, and weekdays to accommodate event schedules.
- Ability to perform daily activities requiring continual physical exertion, including climbing stairs, safely moving and handling items weighing up to 50 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching (including above the head), pushing/pulling, performing repetitive motions, twisting, shoveling snow, walking and standing extensively.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Management of a facilities housekeeping or maintenance operation in an educational or institutional environment.
- Knowledge of LEED and green cleaning standards.
