Title: Coordinator of Student Support

Position Summary:

Design programming and develop resources to address student needs impacting academic success. Implement an innovative and comprehensive student orientation program. Assist in providing support services to the students.

Duties and Responsibilities: Creatively implement and evaluate a comprehensive orientation program specific to various student subpopulations. Design and implement programming to address the needs of students outside the classroom which impact the learning environment and academic success. Develop and maintain campus and community resource materials specific to each VSCC campus for students in need of community services. Support the Early Alert program by utilizing the appropriate technology and outreaching to students. Assist with establishing working partnerships with local, state, and national service providers and non-profits to provide students referrals to appropriate resources. Assist with developing partnerships with local mental health agencies to provide resources and support for students experiencing emotional distress. In collaboration with key departments, coordinate student prevention programming and training to address drug and alcohol abuse, sexual misconduct, mental health issues, and other barriers to student success. Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and campus departments to enhance and support student learning, retention, and success by serving as the point of contact for student referrals. Utilize effective marketing strategies and outreach to promote student access and encourage broad-based usage of student support services. Responsible for ensuring the ongoing assessment of all programs and services. Assist as needed with developing and facilitating student engagement initiatives including, but not limited to: student organizations, student activities, and first-year experience programming. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Human Services, Counseling, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution. Experience in higher education and/or human/social services. Project management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Commitment to working with diverse individuals. Excellent writing and documentation skills. Experience with individual coaching or counseling .

Pay Rate: 40,200.00 - 48,743.00 annual salary depending on experience
