Project Manager, MIT-Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA)

Working at MIT offers opportunities, an environment, a culture - and benefits - that just aren't found together anywhere else. If you're curious, motivated, want to be part of a unique community, and help shape the future - then take a look at this opportunity.

PROJECT MANAGER, Materials Research Laboratory (MRL)-Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA) (part-time, 50%), to support the coordination and management of MIT's activities with AFFOA, including communications, pre- and post-award support, and events. Responsibilities include marketing, communications, and coordination of MIT community interactions with AFFOA, including planning and facilitating team formation among academic, industry, and government partners to respond effectively to AFFOA calls for proposals and other engagement opportunities. Examples include organizing design competitions and workshops, website creation, and outreach to industry and government that support creating a presence for MIT's advanced fibers and fabrics-related activities; interfacing with AFFOA principal investigators, MRL staff, and other researchers around preparing and submitting proposals and associated administrative documentation pre-award, and meeting obligations (cost-sharing, reporting) on projects post-award; and providing project management support to MIT-affiliated teams on AFFOA-sponsored projects and use of AFFOA facilities. Will report to Professor Gregory Rutledge.

The AFFOA , a nonprofit institute recently established and headquartered near MIT, is one of the latest members of the National Network of Manufacturing Institutes (NNMI). AFFOA's mission is to enable a manufacturing-based revolution in the transformation of traditional fibers, yarns, and textiles into highly sophisticated integrated and networked devices and systems.
