Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Physics, seeks qualified applicants for a newly authorized, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning in academic year 2018-2019. The Department of Physics is home to one of the largest undergraduate-only programs in the United States, with approximately 110 undergraduate majors, and it provides physics courses to a large cohort of non-majors each semester. The department is located on LUC s Lake Shore Campus on Chicago s North Side. For more information about the department, visit our website at http://www.luc.edu/physics.

The successful candidate is expected to teach courses throughout the undergraduate physics curriculum for both physics majors and non-majors, conduct an ongoing research program in physics, and perform services for the department, college, and university as required.

Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position will have a doctoral degree in physics or a closely related field. This position requires a passionate commitment to excellence in teaching and a dedication to developing a strong research program that will engage undergraduate students. Teaching experience is required. The incumbent is also expected to be competitive for external funding.
