Post-Doctoral Fellowship – Clinical or Counseling

William Rainey Harper College is a 2-year institution located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. The College offers Associate’s degree, Continuing Education, Career Certification and Transfer Programming to a diverse student population.

A Post-Doctoral Fellowship is available for doctoral students in clinical or counseling psychology at Harper College. Training is a one-year commitment beginning on August 17, 2018 and concluding at the end of July 2019.

The Post-Doc is engaged in every aspect of service provision to students, including brief psychotherapy, intake assessments and evaluations, crisis work, and clinical consultation. In addition, post-docs provide secondary supervision of doctoral externs and provide outreach activities on campus, including work on issues such as advocacy for underrepresented populations and raising awareness of health promotion issues relating to psychological health and wellbeing. Post-Docs are exposed to a spectrum of crisis interventions and crisis counseling. Group and individual supervision is provided weekly, in addition to special didactic training opportunities on campus. Psychological Services is part of the Student Development Division, which takes a multi-disciplinary approach to promoting the success of the Harper student body. Student clientele are highly diverse across the parameters of age, race & ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, health, and medical status, educational and career goals, gender issues, socioeconomic status, and clinical needs. The candidate must have a completed doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology and be ready to accrue licensure hours by the start date of the position.
