Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. AOS : Kant. AOC : German Idealism and/or Applied Ethics (desirable). The position will begin August 13, 2018. The Department of Philosophy has extensive teaching duties in Loyola s Core Curriculum, programs for Majors and Minors, as well as M.A. and Ph.D. programs. (The department has approximately 70 Majors, 60 Minors, 150 Bioethics Minors, and 75 graduate students.) The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the Core Curriculum and in their area of specialty in undergraduate upper division classes as well as occasional graduate program seminars. There is also an expectation of advising and mentoring of students, strong research/scholarship in one s area suitable for a tenure-track appointment, and the usual sorts of service work within the Department.

Qualifications
The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Philosophy prior to appointment. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, and student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Philosophy prior to appointment.
