HR Assistant

Position Summary:
Member of Division of Student Affairs Human Resources Team. Assists with various HR project and administrative duties. Assists with entry level hiring pools. Responsible for outside advertising and job notices within Division. Audits to ensure that classification and compensation changes have been made in University HRIS system. Assists with setting up HR training classes and posting classes on Coursewhere. Assists with quality assurance on transactional paperwork, pay action letters and other correspondence. Responsible for assigned reporting that is communicated with clients such as required trainings and I-9 errors. Screens applicants for Staff postings when needed. Sets up recruiting files and ensures that all appropriate hiring documentation is included. Drafts decline letters to be sent to applicants. Assists with dispositioning applicants in applicant tracking system for all hires. Serves as backup to HR Generalist for duties such as conviction check/driver check entry and forms generation.

Required Qualifications:
Strong customer service experience in an academic or professional office environment. Ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner. Previous administrative experience performing not only routine duties such as data entry, copying, drafting correspondence, filing and answering the telephone but also performing research and maintaining and updating spreadsheets and/or databases. Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Must be proficient with computers and software applications such as Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential information. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team setting. Demonstrates initiative in completing tasks and solving problems. Experience working in a fast-paced office environment. Ability to maintain composure while managing workload with competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in Human Resources in a professional setting. Familiarity with Banner, People Admin, Coursewhere or similar software applications.
