Director of Alumni Relations

The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive program strategically designed to engage a growing population of alumni in the life and mission of Elmhurst College. The Director will develop and deliver meaningful programs and services to alumni across the country. The Director is a key staff liaison with the Alumni Association Board. The Director works with the Annual Giving Team and Major Gift Officers to increase alumni giving participation.

Salary Grade A13
Essential Functions
1. Works closely with the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, creates and leads an engaging, innovative, and creative alumni relations program.
2. Plans and implements the College's major annual alumni events including but not limited to Homecoming, class reunions, and regional alumni clubs.
3. Establishes and supports a Parents Council to foster deeper relationships with Elmhurst College Parents.
4. Provides staff leadership to Elmhurst College Alumni Board, working closely with the Board's volunteer president to set strategies, goals, and meeting agendas for the Board.
5. Manages the award process for Faculty Merit Award, Senior of the Year Award and Alumni Merit Award, sponsored by the Alumni Association.
6. Solicits Alumni Board members, Parent Council members and other assigned prospects for annual gifts.
7. Manages all tribute gifts.
8. Assists with the implementation of a parent phonathon campaign.
9. Strengthens the College's Reunion Program, working closely with the annual fund staff to implement a robust reunion giving program.
10. Provides all employee supervision administration which would include oversight of recruitment, hiring, professional development, performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures.
11. Partners with the development staff to aid in cultivation to engage major, annual, and planned gift prospects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics packages and data extraction software.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. A strong work ethic with an ability to work alone and within a larger team.
5. Ability to support and represent Elmhurst College's mission and core values.
6. A sense of humor and comfort with ambiguity.
7. A goal oriented self-starter.
8. A desire and ability to collaborate within the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and across various academic and administrative departments.
9. Ability to work nights, weekends, and some overnight travel required.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Volunteer management experience preferred.
2. 3+ years of experience in higher education development/advancement preferred.
3. Previous work or study in a private liberal arts preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.

Work Hours
In addition to regular M-F, ability to work nights, weekends, and some overnight travel required.
