Position Summary:
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech is seeking to fill a Research Associate position, located in Richmond, VA. The position is a 12-month, non-tenure track restricted appointment responsible for turfgrass research, primarily located in Central Virginia. The successful candidate will work closely with the Virginia Tech Turf Team to develop, coordinate, and manage research projects in Central Virginia with a primary focus at the Independence Golf Club's Bon Secours Mentor Short Course. The successful candidate will work with Virginia Tech faculty, staff, and students, Independence Golf Club personnel, turf managers, industry groups and other stakeholders on collaborative research projects to address critical needs in the region. The candidate will be responsible for hosting and coordinating a wide variety of Extension and stakeholder-supported field days and educational events.

Required Qualifications:
MS in turfgrass science or related field; Extensive working experience in fine turf management (golf course or high end athletic field complex); Ability to work independently with all phases of field research, including design, implementation, analysis, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of unbiased university (or related) field research.
