Summary of Position The Department of Biological Sciences at Ferris State University seeks a qualified individual to serve in the capacity of Director of the Shimadzu Core Research Facility at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Applicants for this tenure-track, 12-month position should have a Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences or a closely-related field. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education, potential for teaching
excellence, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and experience with chromatography (such as HPLC and GC), mass spectrometry, and other instrumental techniques. The Shimadzu Core Research Facility is a multidisciplinary research laboratory that is used for individual research projects as well as for teaching activities tied to course objectives. The Director will provide oversight of the facility, including regular maintenance of the equipment, oversee inventory of laboratory supplies, develop laboratory protocols, and ensure compliance with standard procedures. The Director will assist faculty and students and have the opportunity to initiate their own research program. In addition to being responsible for oversight of the core research facility, this individual will teach classes during the regular academic year in their area of expertise. Preference will be given to those with a background in toxicology and/or forensic science, but we welcome interest from other fields of expertise, provided they support the functions of the department.

Required Qualifications
Required Education Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences or a related field.
Required Work Experience Experience with chromatography (such as HPLC and GC), mass spectrometry, and other basic laboratory techniques.
Required Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license.
