Assistant Director of Strategic Planning

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director for Strategic Planning, the assistant director is responsible for project management, communications, logistics, data gathering and analysis for a variety of projects coordinated by the Office for Strategic Planning. This includes collaborating with various campus' offices and stakeholder groups such as: Strategic Planning Committee, Office for Inclusion and Diversity, Academic Decision Support Office, University Relations, and units and programs across the institution.
A strong candidate will have a robust record of project management, data management and analysis, diversity and equity, and communications. The candidate must have solid progressive experience in a higher education environment, including working collaboratively in diverse teams, building consensus, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal/presentation skills, financial analysis and writing/editing documents and reports to multiple audiences.
The candidate of choice will have strong analytical skills and will work to help advance Beyond Boundaries (http://www.beyondboundaries.vt.edu/about.html). The individual will design and support engagement and outreach initiatives and events associated with the strategic plan and strategic initiatives. The position will work collaboratively to support the cohesive integration of strategic university initiatives, including Destination Areas, performance incentive-based budget model, InclusiveVT, health science and technology initiatives, and Northern Capitol Region presence.

Required Qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree
• Experience working in a senior management environment in roles that demonstrate successful communication, interaction and a service orientation in assisting senior leadership in their roles and responsibilities
• Excellent written communication skills including experience recording the minutes of meetings, report writing and policy communications and interpretation
• Demonstrated ability working successfully in a diverse environment as part of a collaborative leadership team
• High level of diversity and inclusion competency
• Experience in higher education environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree
