Adelphi University, chartered in 1896, was the first institution of higher education for liberal arts and sciences on Long Island. The Department of Exercise Science, Health Studies, Physical Education and Sport Management of the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education is currently seeking for an Assistant Professor in Exercise Science for a full-time (9-month) tenure track position starting Fall 2018.
Qualifications:
Earned a doctorate in Exercise Science, established record of teaching undergraduate and graduate students and laboratory experience, demonstrated record of scholarly activity, excellence in written/oral communication skills, and value for and capacity to work with diverse populations. Knowledge of energy metabolism and the practical application of principles of Exercise Science are important. Interest in online learning and integration of technology into teaching is encouraged. Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations are sought.
Responsibilities:
Include teaching courses in exercise science and pre-physical therapy, advisement, service, research, clinical supervision and program development.
The Exercise Science program currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a pre-physical therapy and allied health track and a Master of Science in Exercise Science. http://education-ehps.adelphi.edu/exercise-science/
The Department offers undergraduate programs in exercise science, physical education and sport management and graduate programs in exercise science, community health promotion, school health and physical education and sport management.
