Regional Outreach Program Manager

Position Summary:
The regional outreach program manager will be independently responsible for program implementation strategy, project planning, budgeting, and management of Virginia Tech Roanoke Center conferences, meetings, short courses, workshops, and the development of other program models. This position will be responsible for defining and managing the time-line and scope of services for each program in cooperation with Continuing and Professional Education's functional units and oversee program implementation. The regional outreach program manager will have sole financial responsibility and accountability for each program and meeting revenue goals established by the Executive Director of Roanoke Regional Initiatives. The position will include new business development, assessment of program needs and marketing research, proposal and grant writing, and contract negotiation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing portfolios of related offerings to ensure that the cross -project work effort remains feasible from a business standpoint and realizes benefits. This position will also be responsible for identifying and developing partnerships to address corporate, government, and community outreach and engagement needs. The ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple distractions will be a must for the successful candidate. Occasional weekend, early morning, and late evening work will be required based upon program schedules and program needs. This position will be based at the Virginia Tech Roanoke Center. Occasional travel to the main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia and other Virginia Tech locations around the Commonwealth is expected. This position is a restricted appointment and continuation of appointment may be contingent upon availability of funding and business needs.

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent level of training and/or experience.
•Experience with project planning in a continuing education setting.
•Experience developing and financially managing conferences, workshops or special events.
•Experience preparing budget plans to meet stated financial goal.
•Strong computer skills in business applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email and internet navigation.
•Ability to handle numerous projects and details and prioritize according to needs.
•Must be a team player, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and have the ability to manage and handle changes and emergencies in real-time.
•Ability to function effectively with minimal supervision in a variety of roles as needed, including: program leader, collaborator, and support personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Training or experience in financial or business management or hotel and hospitality management.
•Business development with experience in creating and managing client relationships.
•Advanced experience in project planning and budgeting in continuing education setting.
•Experience with procurement and contract negotiations across a program portfolio.
•Experience in a higher education environment.
•Experience with Commonwealth and/or university policies and procedures.
•Experience with proposal and grant writing.
