Associate Director of Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid at Bucknell University seeks an energetic financial aid professional to join us as Associate Director of Financial Aid. We take pride in being a highly customer service oriented office at an institution with a strong sense of community, and we plan to continue our progress in both areas. The Associate Director of Financial Aid is a member of the staff of the Office of Financial Aid and is primarily involved in the areas of financial aid application analysis, award determination and packaging, financial aid counseling for students and parents, and the coordination of University, federal and state financial aid programs. The Associate Director of Financial Aid and will report to the Director of Financial Aid.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:
• Counsel and advise students and parents in all matters related to financial aid awarding/packaging, verification, need analysis, and other financial aid options to assist with educational costs.
• Evaluate financial aid applications/determine eligibility for first-year, returning and graduate students.
• Assume primary responsibility in the administration of Federal Pell Grant Program.
• Serve as the primary contact for Graduate Studies Office.
• Assume primary responsibility in awarding aid to Bucknell Community College Scholars.
• Maintain a superior level of expertise in operating the federal electronic processing system COD, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), University student records and imaging systems, etc.
• Assume primary responsibility for the tracking and processing of summer financial aid.
• Maintain a high level of cooperation with other campus offices such as Bursar Services, Admissions, Registrar, Academic Deans, Graduate Studies, International Education, Athletics, etc. Actively support Bucknell's initiatives related to diversity and inclusion.
• Act as a liaison to the Athletic Department. Maintain a thorough familiarity and ensuring compliance with applicable University and NCAA regulations related to student athletes.
• Actively participate in public seminars regarding financial aid, such as Admissions Open Houses, Financial Aid workshops, high school nights, and professional conferences and workshops.
• Maintain a superior level of expertise regarding University, federal and state aid programs as well as professional developments in the field of financial aid.
• Conduct research activities and special projects when requested by the Director of Financial Aid.
• Assist and advise the Director of Financial Aid in the overall operation of the office and the overall administration of the financial aid programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in a financial aid office at the packaging and counseling level.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Thorough understanding of financial aid need analysis, student budgets, and federal, state, and private aid management
• Experience with federal processing systems and financial aid management systems.
• Proficiency with financial aid databases and strong computer skills in Excel and Word
• Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information pertaining to financial aid application review with discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of constituent groups including students, parents, staff, faculty, colleagues, and the community.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in both verbal and written forms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic environment with high-volume, peak periods.
