Overview

Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance (JRCPPF) is looking for candidates who will assist a group of Department of Economics faculty members in various aspects of their research. The research projects involve questions relating to macro and finance.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates are expected to assist in various aspects of these research projects, including working with and managing large data sets, statistical analysis, coding optimization routines, and summarizing research findings. Additional duties may be assigned. The senior research specialist will work under the general direction of Professor Atif Mian and will also work collaboratively with at least one other senior research specialist.

In addition to working closely with faculty, senior research specialists participate in the vibrant academic life of Princeton University, including auditing classes, attending seminars, and interacting with undergraduate and graduate students and with post-doc fellows.

This position is ideal for exceptional graduating seniors or final year masters students with a strong interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics after acquiring one or two years of research experience. Following the completion of this position, most research specialist have gone on to top Ph.D. programs.


This is a one-year term position with the possibility to renew for one additional year based on performance.

Qualifications

Minimum BA/BS degree in Economics or Math; Excellent analytical, empirical, research and writing skills; Knowledge of statistics/econometrics; Knowledge of statistical programming, particularly STATA; Knowledge of mathematical modeling tools such as Matlab is a plus, Knowledge of standard internet tools and HTML is desirable; Familiarity with standard social science data sources and knowledge of publishing software is desirable.

The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.
