The Division of Social Sciences at St. John's University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Health Services Administration commencing January 1 or September 1, 2018.

The Division of Social Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Human Services that provides a solid foundation in the theory and practice of health administration, as well as the social and behavioral sciences. Students learn the foundational knowledge to develop social and health policies, utilize local community resources, and serving the needs and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities.

Committed to serving student needs, registered nurses seeking admission to the program are granted a maximum of 60 credits toward earning a Bachelor of Science degree.

The program places emphasis on providing quality, cost-effective healthcare for marginalized populations including the elderly, the poor and the mentally ill. Responsibilities: This is a teaching-intensive position (9 to 12 credit hours per semester) with opportunities for research reductions after the first academic year. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a variety of different Health Services Administration courses. Research productivity is important, but secondary to teaching excellence and a strong commitment to student engagement. Division faculty are expected to participate in academic advisement, student mentoring, academic assessment, and other activities as required by the Chair or Dean.

Qualifications: All candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Health and Human Services, Health Services Administration, or a closely related field, or an M.D. degree with teaching and research experience. Area of expertise should specifically be in Health Services or Health Care Administration. Knowledge of technology, health care applications, and/or privacy standards is a plus.

The rank of this position is open. Candidates applying for Associate Professor should have reached the rank of Associate Professor at a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with teaching responsibilities in Health Services Administration or a related area. The ideal candidate will have a record of publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and an aggressive research agenda. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience leading a health care administration program and/or have been involved in developing a graduate program in health care administration.

Assistant Professor candidates should have experience teaching undergraduate classes in Health Services Administration or a closely related field and exhibit the potential for scholarly research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching graduate classes in Health

Services Administration and/or relevant industry experience.

Candidates should be familiar with technology-supported learning pedagogy and be able to integrate technology into their teaching pedagogy.
