The College of Nursing at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position, with a developing program of research in symptom science (e.g., identifying cluster symptoms in specified illnesses, identifying biomarkers associated with symptoms, examining symptoms associated with medication adherence and/or dose-response), beginning July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will have an appointment to the College of Nursing with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the campus and within the University Academic Health Collaborative which includes the Colleges of Health Science, Nursing, and Pharmacy as well as external partners. The candidate will be expected to establish a program of research in an area that complements the mission of the College of Nursing and is supported by extramural funding. The successful candidate will also contribute to the University's teaching mission and participate in service activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Establish and maintain a robust program of research germane to nursing and health that leads to extramural funding.

Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.

Contribute to the undergraduate and/or teaching missions of the University by mentoring graduate students and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses for the college.

Serve on college and University committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED :

1. Ph.D. or equivalent degree at time of appointment.

2. Eligible for RN licensure in Rhode Island.

3. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

4. Demonstrated strong oral communication skills.

5. Demonstrated ability in classroom presentations and/or clinical teaching.

6. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations

PREFERRED :

1. At least one year of postdoctoral training in the area related to program of research.

2. Evidence of successful research collaborations.

3. Demonstrated ability to write competitive applications for extramural funding
