Instructional Designer


Brief Summary:

The Instructional Designer works within the office of Digital Education to achieve new strategic goals and provide instructional design consultation related to course, module, and whole curriculum development activities for traditional, online, and hybrid courses.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete multiple simultaneous customer requests related to digital education while providing user support and excellent customer service to streamline business processes and realize efficiencies.
  • Develop and manage relationships with faculty to implement improvements to online courses and processes based on "best practices".
  • Produce innovative instructional materials that take advantage of the extensive information technologies found at Marist College.
  • Deliver workshops and develop support materials and documentation to assist faculty in using instructional technologies.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging multimedia and instructional technologies as they pertain to the College's strategic mission.
  • Serve as a liaison with other development services (graphics, video production, learning objects, etc.).
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours as may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution and three to five years of related work experience required.
  • Experience developing and delivering online courses as well as an understanding of and an ability to communicate teaching strategies appropriate for distance learning environments.
  • Specific skills in using Web Conferencing Tools, Learning Management Systems,TurnItIn, Vericite, Web Authoring Tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in connection with interpersonal, organizational, and partnering skills.
