UD is home to the prestigious College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the interdisciplinary Department of Animal and Food Sciences. The Department consists of 22 full-time faculty members actively engaged in the core research areas of infectious diseases, genomics, immunology, microbiology including food safety, physiology and nutrition. The affiliated Delaware Biotechnology Institute provides outstanding core facilities to support research of faculty and students. The Animal and Food Sciences undergraduate programs are in high demand with over 350 students enrolled and we place a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research and discovery-based learning. Candidates should have Ph.D. or D.V.M./V.M.D. with post-doctoral research experience in physiology, anatomy, animal science, biology or a related discipline. Successful candidates will have an understanding and appreciation of the One Health initiative as applied to production animal systems and demonstrated experience with modern research technologies. The successful candidate will teach 2 courses with labs per year, engage undergraduates in academic and career advising, mentor undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral researchers, and develop productive outreach collaborations.
