Job Description
The successful candidate will teach master's and doctoral level courses, be involved in course and curriculum development, and serve on dissertation committees. The candidate may be asked to coordinate the M.Ed. in Ed Leadership or Ed.D. program.
The successful candidate must be committed to working effectively with diverse populations of students, colleagues, and members of the community at large.
The successful candidate must have a documented record of sustained scholarly publications and presentations focused on research important to K-12 leadership.
Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. Faculty members do not earn tenure but rather are granted continuous 3-year contract status based on annual development and evaluation of professional development plans.

Required Qualifications
The candidate must have
a. an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership or closely related field from an accredited institution that has earned NCATE / CAEP recognition in educational leadership/administration or closely related field;
b. extensive experience as a public school principal, assistant superintendent, and/or superintendent;
c. experience teaching graduate level courses in educational leadership; and
d. an established record of scholarly publications (at associate rank) or potential to establish a line of scholarship (at assistant rank).
ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is conferred by August 7, 2018. If successful candidate is ABD , appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract until the degree is conferred.
The candidate's teaching, scholarship, and service record must qualify her/him for the rank of assistant or associate professor, as governed by the College of Education's promotion guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate would have
a. A minimum of five years as a public school principal or in combination with experience at the district level;
b. Expertise in instructional leadership, organizational theory, and/or accountability;
c. One of more years of successful leadership experience in high poverty schools and/or in the small school movement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
Preference will be given to someone who is an experienced practitioner in Pre K-12 and has a working relation with administrators in this field and for someone who has a demonstrated understanding of the small school movement. This individual should also have demonstrated fluency in the literature and research in educational leadership.
Experience teaching at the master's and doctoral levels.
Candidate must demonstrate currency and fluency in the literature and research in educational leadership.
Ability to teach in multiple delivery modalities (i.e., face-to-face, hybrid, and online) serving educational leadership/administration and/or policy and experience teaching at the master's and doctoral levels.

Essential Job Duties
Teaches Ed Leadership courses at the master's and doctoral levels.
Utilizes Boyer's principles of scholarly research, and service to community, college, university and department.
Teaches advanced courses that are embedded in community-based research and in which students learn and apply research skills in service of schools, colleges and universities, and/or non-profit agencies.
Teaches courses and chair and/or serve on dissertation committees.
Works collegially and actively with other department faculty and staff on program/curriculum development and program assessment.
Participates in candidate recruitment, information sessions, interviews, and decision-making.
Serves as an advisor to assigned students and hold regularly published office hours.
Participates in department and College of Education activities, meetings, and committees.
Serves on Department, College, and University committees, and attend general Academic meetings, Commencements, and other special events.
